Notions Of Fabric

Now that we've covered what happened in 2019, let's look forward to 2020! Last year, I didn't reach my #makenine goals, but I think it's still good to have something to aim for. This year, a lot of these patterns are ones I would have like to make in 2019 but didn't get a chance to! In the end, what I really want to do in 2020 is to sew from my stash, using both existing patterns and fabrics. So what I have done is created two linked lists, one of patterns, and one of fabrics I want to use. Because I have a lot of plans already in my head, of the two lists 6 patterns are already linked to fabrics on the corresponding list. Today I have a double post - both patterns which you have seen on the blog before. Let's go from the top down! The top is another  True Bias Ogden Cami ... I think I've made 5 at this point? I wear a lot of this style top (and did before I discovered the pattern), so I am now in the process of updating my original Primark tops in this style with Ogdens. I have also found that every time I find a print I like but am not sure if it will work as a dress, I am tempted to get a metre and make a top. Maybe I need to start making some for others! This fabric though is pretty special. It's the first ever silk I've seen with! Hey everyone! So, it's been a month... My bad. I did warn you I was going back to work tomorrow... And work has been crazy, I've ended up with heaps of extra stuff to do, and unfortunately all of the crafty things have had to take a backseat for a little while. Hi there! I can see some people have found my little blog through the Sew Dolly Clackett competition (now closed, and good luck to everyone who entered!), so an extra special welcome to everyone today. I got back home Friday night from a week in Melbourne with one of my bestest friends. We shopped (RTW stores), ate a lot, drank a lot (we're both a bit fan of the 7-11 slurpee), and generally had an amazing time. While in the city, we popped into Tessuti's, but as I suspected it was a little too expensive for my taste. I loved seeing all the Liberty lawns and japanese cottons though - one day...  I really wanted to be able to go fabric shopping while we were there though. My friend was totally on board with wandering the outskirts of the city and browsing fabrics, thank goodness. Welcome to my blog. I am a newly interested sewer, a result of moving house and finally having a place to put my sewing machine! As you may have guessed, I'm Rachel, and while my sewing skills aren't incredible (yet, I hope) I am loving sewing and creating awesome things! I learnt to sew growing up from my grandmother, and am rediscovering my skills. I inherited my nan's machine and serger, and haven't ye been able to use them due to lack of space in my living arrangements. Soon, I hope to get photos of my creations so far, but in lieu of a photographer, I wanted to show you some new fabrics.
